LANCE P. SIJAN
LEADERSHIP AWARD
Chief Master Sergeant Spillane was awarded this esteemed honor after his Commander recognized his outstanding performance in the line of duty and submitted him for the award. Then Master Sergeant Spillane was recognized for leading the worlds largest C-130 squadron into Iraq. His Loadmaster's smashed every C-130 Operation Iraqi Freedom airlift record by moving 40 thousand combat troops and their equipment in only 105 days. He personally flew 338 Combat hours in the skys of Iraq and received his 5th Air Medal.
The Lance P. Sijan USAF Leadership Award was created in 1981 to recognize individuals who have demonstrated the highest qualities of leadership in their jobs and in their lives. It has become one of the U.S. Air Force's most prestigious awards.
